The problem with Rumours and speculations is that they are often wrong, which is why we make sure we state any rumour articles with “waiting confirmation” from the developers who actually know what is happening.
Late afternoon yesterday, rumours were circulating about Battleborn going free to play following Evolved footsteps. Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford set the record straight via Twitter confirming that rumours are untrue.
I was just told about a reckless story about Battleborn going F2P that is false. There are no plans to convert Battleborn free to play.

We have some unannounced plans to do a trial version of the game that would be free and from which retail can be purchased along with DLC.

Free trial plans are not firm yet – months away. Expect great continued support and awesome line up of DLC.

With dreams of playing free-to-play Battleborn are crushed, the Trial version sounds intriguing enough that it still may bring in new players. Still it is good to put this rumour to rest.
