While the title “Clock Tower” may not ring a bell to a lot of gamers, the series has a cult following that warrant series creator Hifumi Kouno to create a new successor with his new development company Nude Maker. With the help of Masahiro Ito (creature designer for the Silent Hill series,) Takashi Shimizu (director of the Ju-on films,) and other “well known talents in the Japanese game industry,” their new game titled Project Scissor will act as a Spiritual Successor to the Run-and-Hide horror franchise.
The game is said to take place on a cruise ship where a murderer has killed most of the crew and left the ship adrift at sea, players are left to focus on surviving the murderer and finding out who is killing everyone on the ship. While no images or release date has been announced, Project Scissor is set to launch on the iOS, Androids and PSVita.
Clock Tower was one of the first Run-and-Hide horror game, originally Released in 1995 for SNES and WonderSwan exclusively in Japan and then ported to the Playstation in 1996. The series had seen 2 sequels with PSone Clock Tower 2: the Struggle Within and Clock Tower 3 developed by Capcom on PS2. After Capcom bought the series from the then bankrupt Human Entertainment in 1999, the series went into limbo, with the PS2 title from Capcom called Haunting Ground originally set to be Clock Tower 4.
