During the Sony State of Play livestream, 2K announced that the critically acclaimed strategy game Civilization VI will be making the jump to PS4 (and later confirmed Xbox One as well) this November – marking the first time the series has appeared on the Sony or Microsoft platforms since 2008’s Civilization Revolution.
Civilization VI is set to release on November 22nd and will be priced at $60USD for the base game, while all of the game’s expansions – Rise and Fall, Gathering Storm, and 18 additional Civilization Leaders – will be packaged together into an Expansion Bundle for $50USD. This bundle will also be released on the already released Nintendo Switch version of the game as well.
The PS4 and Xbox One versions will also come with 4 additional content packs including Poland, Vikings, Australia, Persia and Macedon Civilizations and Scenario packs. PS4 owners will receive the Khmer and Indonesia Civilization pack and the Nubia Civilization pack; meanwhile Xbox One users will have to pay for these packs.
Civilization VI was originally released in 2016 on PC and a Nintendo Switch port followed two years later. This is the perfect way for those on console to understand the “one more turn” staying power that the series had on its PC players since the series first released back in 1991.
