Capcom has taken notice to the success of WB Games and NeitherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat series and the highly praised cinematic presentation of it’s story mode, so much so that they are looking to draw inspiration from the ultra-violent fighter for their next entry in the Street Fighter series.
Street Fighter V producer Matt Dahlgren stated in an interview with HipHopGamer: “I can’t reveal specifics on our story, but I can say we are going to be doing things differently this time around… We’re definitely paying attention to what our competitors are doing and want to raise the bar.” He continued to say that “our story content is going to be unique and different from any previous Street Fighter game.”
No word on a release date for the upcoming fighter yet, however Capcom did confirm the 3rd brand new fighter to the cast, the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter Laura.
