Activision and Infinity Ward has announced their plans to get people playing the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Multiplayer early via Open Beta.
The studio is planning for two weekend beta tests in September, lasting from Thursday at 1PM ET to the following Monday. The first is planned to run from Sept 12th – 16th and will be exclusive to PS4. Those who pre-order will get access to the beta immediately on Sept 12th, with everyone else being able to jump in on the 14th. The second Weekend will open up PC and Xbox One players and will be available between Sept 19th to 23rd. Once again, those who pre-order will get access on the 19th, while everyone else will get to jump in on Sept 21st.
The second weekend will be much more interesting as Infinity Ward will also be unlocking Cross-Play, allowing PS4, Xbox One and PC (using a controller) to play together.
As of what will be in the Beta, at this time is a mystery. Infinity Ward has confirmed that the 2v2 Gunfight mode will be coming back for the beta, and we’ll get our first taste of the standard 6v6 team deathmatch mode. Activison has stated that they’ll roll our more content and maps over the weekend but did not clarify on what we could expect.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set to release on October 25 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
