Borderlands 2 has been dubbed the best selling game in the 2K game library, and what is not to love about the First Person RPG Shooter with it’s Diablo-esque quest system, great co-operative multiplayer and lovable characters. It’s the perfect combination, and while we have gotten a large amount of great DLC for the game, we still want more.
While Gearbox has said that a true sequel is a while away as they’re hard at work on other titles, they have announced a collaboration between 2K Australia to bring Borderlands: The PreSequel!, taking place between the events of Borderlands 1 and 2. The PreSequel! is not changing the game or will be as big as Borderlands 2, it is being built on the same engine and will be set for a PS3, Xbox 360, and PC release, filling in the backstory of our favourite asshole antagonist, Handsome Jack.
So what is different this time around. Well a new tier of guns have been unlock, adding Lasers to the long list of weapons, as well as the ability to explore Pandora’s Moon allowing players to fight in low gravity and focus on their new Air Tanks. Also 4 new playable characters will be joining Handsome Jack as they set up the Hyperion moon base.
While ‘new’ isn’t really the word we would be looking for, these characters have already been established in the Borderlands lore, players will be looking forward to play as Athena from the Secret Armory of General Knoxx DLC , Wilhelm (one of the first bosses in Borderlands 2 in human form), Nisha the Sheriff of Lynchwood and Claptrap (Yes, THE Claptrap.)
Currently the game is set for a Q3 2014 release, and we will update once an actual release date is given by 2K and Gearbox.
