At Microsoft’s E3 2019 conference, we were intrigued to see a new first person survival horror game based on the 20 year old Blair Witch franchise which would be heading to PC and Xbox One later this year. While the previous trailer didn’t give us much in terms of story or gameplay, its creepiness and general feeling of dread kept us interested, finding out that it would be developed by Bloober Team – the folks behind Layers of Fear and Observer – put it on the must watch list.
As the game is set to launch late next month, we’ve now got a new quick look at the gameplay for the upcoming horror game, which features the protagonist Ellis working on a “missing person case.” So far it seems fairly standard from Bloober, as it involves walking around in a dark forest, using your cameras and flashlight to illuminate your path, all while unnerving apparitions terrorize you.
While not much more is known about the plot of the game, we do know that the game will be set in 1996, two years after the events of the Blair Witch Project which saw three college students go missing in the woods while filming a documentary on the Blair Witch.
The game is available for Pre-order now, and will be available day one to those who subscribe to the Xbox Game Pass or the Game Pass Ultimate when it launches on August 30th. Check out the trailer above.
