Yep, Bioshock: Infinite has been delayed… Again…
Take-Two officially pushed the game back to February 26 2013, but to give us an idea of what exactly is going on, Irrational Games director Ken Levine stated
“When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, we felt pretty good about the timing. Since then, we’ve uncovered opportunities to make Infinite into something even more extraordinary, therefore, to give our talented team the time they need to deliver the best Infinite possible, we’ve decided to move the game’s release to February.”
Levine also mentioned that the game will be going dark as well, with no further media coverage at E3, Gamescom or PAX.
“That way, the next time you see our game, it will be essentially the product we intend to put in the box. Preparing for these events takes time away from development, time we’re going to use instead to get the best version of Infinite into your hands in February.”
This has upset some stockholders as Take-Two stocks dropped 5% after the announcement, they are also looking at one less major release in the last quarter, with Borderlands 2 and XCOM: Enemy Unknown still set for a Holiday release. This has lead many to believe that something bigger may be on it’s way.
This brings us to Michael Pachter of Webush Securities, who quoated a rumored leak from back in April with the possibility of Grand Theft Auto 5 being released for October. “In our view, the delay opens the window for Grand Theft Auto V to be released in October 2012.” Says Pachter, in which he believes that Rockstar has told Take-Two that GTA5 will be ready for October, allowing Bioshock to get pushed back for some extra polishing.
While this is still in speculation, until we get any confirmation from Rockstar, Take-Two or Irrational Games, the only thing we can confirm is that, unless it gets pushed back again, we will be playing Bioshock Infinite next year.
