A huge update to Gearbox’s Hero Shooter, Battleborn, has been released and with it comes some major changes. While some of these update are well needed, including a change to the in-game economy, Quests, an interface overhaul, and new training modes.
However a couple of the updates changes the game altogether. The biggest of this is Gearbox Unlocking all 25 of the game characters! Players no longer need to spend a large amount of in-game money, complete difficult challenges or level up to a high rank to try out other heroes. The 5 bonus characters, Alani, Pendles, Ernest, Kid Ultra and the upcoming Beatrix (who is now available for Early Access for those who purchased the deluxe edition) can still be unlocked using in-game money or character keys. If you had used a character key to unlock a core hero, you will be re-instated that key to use on one of the bonus characters. Those hero missions that would have previously unlocked characters will stick around, but now offer premium skins for the hero.
The game has also seen a performance enhancement, the game will now run at 1080p and up to 60fps on consoles, and Gearbox also released 4K support for PS4Pro.
As a recap of everything released since the game’s launch in May, Gearbox gave a quick bulletpoint list of all the major events including new characters, DLC Story Mission, and more. The list goes:
