After a two month countdown on the Persona team’s teaser website, Atlus gave us the big reveal of 4 new Persona games coming to consoles next year. Persona Q for the 3DS, Persona 4: Dancing All Night for the Vita, Persona 4: Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold and the highly anticipated Persona 5 for PS3.
Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth is a crossover title featuring characters from Persona 3 and Persona 4 in a chibi style for the 3DS. The game is set to be a dugeon crawler where you can chose to play as the P3 or P4 team, the story will change depending on the choices and teams that you choose. It is set to be released in Japan on June 4th 2014.
The strangest announcement of the 4 games come from Project Diva developers Dingo who will be making Persona 4: Dancing all Night for the Vita, a rhythm based dancing game that will feature Yu and the cast of Persona 4 dancing to Persona 4’s critically acclaimed soundtrack. While it may not be the Persona game we were expecting to be announced, however it does fit with series idol Risette. The game is set to be launch in Fall of 2014 in Japan.
A PS3 Port of the updated arcade version of Persona 4: Arena, titled Persona 4: Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold, was announced for a Summer release in Japan. As previously mentioned, the game has been updated for new moves and 3 new fighters. The latest trailer seems to hint at an expanded story mode and another familiar face from Persona 4 as well.
Finally the main event, the teaser trailer of Persona 5 was released featuring a cryptic message “You are a slave. Want emancipation?” with an image of school chairs in shackles and chains, which indicates that the school setting that the Persona series is known for will still be centered around the mysteries of Persona 5. While no gameplay was released yet, we can expect to see more soon as the trailer showed a release window of Winter 2014, exclusively to the PS3.
While there has been no announcement for the new games to be released in North America or Europe yet, the Persona series has been quite successful enough to warrant the games being brought over. As usual, we will keep you posted on any new release dates for the series.
