Archie Comics has had quite a good run with it’s recently acquired Megaman series based on the original version, so much so that they even created a cross-over event with their other Video Game hero, Sonic the Hedgehog in an arc called World Collide. Of course because of it’s success it’s only wise to see the series spin-off take a shot at it’s own comic series.
In Issue #34 of Megaman, we’ll be given our first look at Megaman X. “The world of Mega Man X is a bit darker, more complex, and tackles some deeper questions. Mega Man, Rock, is much more innocent and naïve than X, so it’ll be interesting to see how they tackle their challenges in their own ways,” the series writer Ian Flynn told IGN. In the same interview Archie Comics Editor Paul Kaminski added: “It’s a harder edge than the classic series, and I think that’s why it has been so popular with fans of the series. It’s a dystopian future where the stakes are higher and the evil even more potent. Looking forward to getting hardcore.”
Megaman X was originally released in 1993 as a spin off of the popular platformer and since has spawned multiple sequels over SNES and Playstation.
