Season 8 of Apex Legends has just started earlier this week but the Battle Royale spin-off of Titanfall will be getting some fresh blood next month as Respawn Entertainment has announced that the game will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on March 9th. The Switch version will be co-developed by Respawn and Panic Button (best known for their Switch ports of Doom, Doom Eternal, and the Wolfenstein series.)
The two teams have confirmed that the game will include everything that the other versions of Apex has, including cross-platform play, and that the switch will have a few unique optimization options to help make up for the different controls and technical limitations of the platform.
For newcomers to Apex Legends jumping in on the Switch, they’ll be jumping into the middle of the latest season. Respawn has confirmed that all of the content in season 8 will be included in the Switch version at launch, with Switch players getting 30 levels of the battle pass upgrades for free, plus double XP for the first two weeks to make up for the late start.
In an ocean of Battle Royale games, I’ve found Apex Legends to be one of the better ones available, borrowing from Titanfall’s speed focus gameplay. Being Free-to-play, I can’t recommend this one enough if you’re looking for a new shooter to try on the Switch.
