Even if you’re not a gearhead, the names Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are easily associated to being the voice of car enthusiasts. This is especially true after Clarkson’s issues during BBC’s Top Gear, a show that sharply went down hill after Clarkson’s firing, with Hammond and May departing shortly after. Amazon quickly picked them up for a new show called The Grand Tour, and for a long while it was the best thing you could watch on Prime Video.
With Season 3 of The Grand Tour underway and Amazon Game Studios’ at the company’s disposal, it’s a series ripe for releasing a fun straight-forward racing game. Set to delivered episodically alongside season 3, the game will feature four player split-screen support, voice over from Clarkson, Hammond and May, and incorporate footage from the show with “seamless” transitions between live action and gameplay.
While we’d expect this to be a simulation racer like Forza Motorsport (which Clarkson provided voice-over on in the past), it seems Amazon is looking at more of an arcade racer with power-ups. Amazon Game Studios mentioned “over-the-top power-ups like High Tea, which spills tire-shredding cups and saucers, and More Horsepowers, which lets you blow past the competition.”
There is no release date for Season 3 of The Grand Tour or the game, but according to Amazon, the game is coming “soon” to PS4 and Xbox One.
