Fox is attempting another shot at a Hitman movie based on the popular Eidos/Square Enix franchise. Seven years after the original movie flopped it’s way to theatres with a storyline that felt like a mixture of The Saint and Soldier, staring Timothy Olyphant as Agent 47 in an uninspired action flick loosely based on the game.
It’s safe to say that my expectations of a good Hitman film is very low after that on.
The lastest imagining titled, Hitman: Agent 47, has been hit with a delay according to The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline, the movie now is set to release on August 28, 2015, after 20th Century Fox pushed it back six months from its original date of February 27. Homeland star Rupert Friend will be taking to reigns of the calculating Assassin, who is set to target a woman played by Betrayal’s Hannah Ware, while Heroes and Star Trek star Zachary Quinto hunt them down as the movie’s lead villain.
While no news was given about the reason for the Delay, we can guess that it’s probably to fill out the summer blockbusters line-up for 20th Century Fox and possibly more time for a media blitz. What do you think? Are you excited, is the movie going to flop, did you like or hate the original?
