There are a lot of big changes coming to Call of Duty with Infinity Ward’s upcoming Reboot. Of those changes, players can look forward to cross-platform play between Xbox, PS4 and PC, as well as the lack of season pass meaning that all post-launch DLC maps will be available to all.
While Activision has stated that Playstation players will continue to have an advantage in the game as part of their deal with Sony, they have confirmed that all three platforms will have the maps released on the same day. This is a big deal for the series as it marks for the first time in more than a decade that neither Playstation or Xbox gets a head start for content.
In a statement, Activision said the developers have “worked to ensure that content will be released in a way that enables all players to continue to seamlessly play together.” Adding that “most” of the post-release DLC which will include Maps, Modes, and Spec-Ops missions, will release simultaneously across all platforms.”
Modern Warfare is in its second week of Open Beta, which will include our first taste of cross play between the consoles starting on September 19th. This week’s beta will also give us the opertunity to test our the new Ground War multiplayer mode, which is stating to support more than 100 players.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare comes out on October 25th on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
