A Way Out was one of the more impressive titles we saw at E3 and at The Game Awards last night, it got more impressive thanks to the developers commitment to making the game a Co-op Only experience, and announcing that only one of your friends need to pick up the game for you both to enjoy it online.
EA announced that they will include a free “Friends pass” trial for the game, which will allow players to download the trial and play “The entire co-op experience” with that person without paying for it. Just like if you invited your friend to your house and play the game on the couch.
At this time, there doesn’t sound like there is any special limitations or restrictions for the friends trial pass aside for the need of Playstation Plus or Xbox Live Gold. The pass is an interesting move considering EA’s recent track record, yet A Way Out is a very unique title, played out completely in Split-screen co-op.
A Way Out is set to be released on March 23, 2018 on PS4, Windows PC and Xbox One. The friends pass will also be available at launch. Check out the new trailer giving us a better look at the games protagonists Vincent and Leo above.
