Nintendo has been rumoring that the 3DS will be dropping price, from $250 to $169.99, an $80 price drop not even 6 months after the it’s release.
Now this is actually a good way to boost up sales for the 3DS but what if your one of the early adopters of Nintendo’s hand held platform. Well Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata, apologizes. For the first time in Gaming history, a company apologizes for a price drop.
He states in his apology that “there is nothing we can do to completely make up for the feeling that you are being punished for buying the system early,” and added that the fans are still “extremely important.”
To make up for this, Nintendo is giving away 20 old-school games, 10 Gameboy Advance and 10 NES games, this includes:
Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3,
Mario Kart: Super Circuit,
Metroid Fusion, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$
Mario vs. Donkey Kong
Super Mario Bros.
Donkey Kong Jr.
Balloon Fight
Ice Climber
The Legend of Zelda
Nintendo hopes to boost sales, and keep it’s already large client base happy. With a formal apology from Satoru Iwata and a list of 20 free games, I think they’re on the right track.
