After the success of Telltale’s The Walking Dead series, Activision stated that they will be taking a shot at the series this time basing it directly off the AMC television show. The game is designed to be a First Person Shooter and will be called The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, it will be developed by Terminal Reality which brought us Ghostbusters: The Video game a few years back. Activision announced that the game will be available for Pc, PS3, 360 and Wii U on March 26 in North America, and March 29 in Europe.
The game is a prequel to the TV series and follows Daryl and Merle Dixon as they fight their way past the Walkers on their way to Atlanta, both Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker were confirmed to reprise their respective roles in the game. The Player will take the role of Daryl and will have the choice to fight the walkers or sneak around them. In the Wii U version, you will be able to use the Wii U’s touch screen as a fast use inventory system.
“We didn’t want to change the game,” said the game’s producer Glenn Gamble, “because the game had already been established, so we tried to say ‘What can we augment with the Wii U version?’ That’s where it’s basically a more elegant inventory management system. With the Wii U you have access to your backpack at all times, so you can tag what weapons you want, you can drop stuff. It’s a lot more streamlined.”
