Assassin’s Creed will get an Anime from Castlevania Netflix producer

If you’re unfamiliar with Adi Shankar by name, you have no doubt seen some of his work, whether it be the gritty Power/Ranger remake, or the amazing Dirty Laundry short which should have led to Thomas Jane returning as the Punisher in a new movie (don’t get me wrong, loved Jon¬†Bernthal portrayal in Daredevil but Dirty Laundry proved to me that Jane deserved a second run at the character) or the hyper-violent Dredd which he produced. His latest project, Netflix’s Castlevania cartoon/anime, is out this Friday. This should be proof that if you want something gritty and violent adapted right, he’s your guy.

It seems that Ubisoft is well aware of this, as Shankar has announced he was asked to create a new Anime set in the Assassin’s Creed Universe by Ubisoft. While there isn’t much to go on with the announcement as of characters or settings that we’ll see in the Anime, we do know that Ubisoft has asked him to create an original story.

This is presumably the Assassin’s Creed TV Series which was teased in March, which joins the growing slate of films and properties under the Ubisoft Motion Pictures branch that includes a Splinter Cell and The Division films which are set to star Tom Hardy and Jake Gyllenhaal respectfully.

While Assassin’s Creed had its time in Hollywood, the film which starred Michael Fassbender failed to impress fans and critics alike. The latest Assassin’s Creed title (Assassin’s Creed Origins) was officially announced at E3 and is slated for an October 27th 2017 release.
