Activision partners up with Rockstar and Pop-Tarts for Destiny 2

Actvision and Bungie have announced that they’ll be partnering with Rockstar Energy Drink and Pop-Tarts Toaster Pastries for some custom-tailored offers to celebrate the launch of Destiny 2 on September 6th 2017 for PS4 and Xbox One, and later on October 24th for PC via Battle.net.

Activision’s deal with Rockstar Energy Drink includes several limited edition ‘Destiny 2 Themed’ cans available in different flavours in US, Canada, UK and Germany. The U.K. flavours include: Original, Punched Guava, and XDurance. The U.S. flavours are Original, Punched, and Zero Carb. Canada flavours include: Original, Punched and Burner. The Germany programme features flavours: Original and Sugar Free. The themed cans will begin entering stores for purchase in August and availability will vary per retailer. Purchasing Rockstars will give players in-game gear and a chance to win a daily, weekly and grand prize draws which includes a Destiny 2-themed Motorcycle.

The US partnership with Pop-Tarts will give players XP Boosts, free with purchase of specially-marked packages, which will feature custom-designed packaging showcasing each of the Guardian Subclass. The packages will start hitting stores in September.

“In collaboration with Rockstar Energy Drink and Pop-Tarts®, we chose strategic, renowned lifestyle partners in major markets to bring the Destiny 2 universe to life,” said Byron Beede, Sr. Vice President of Product Management. “We’re bringing these partners together to complement the overwhelming excitement of Destiny 2’s launch with benefits that reward players both inside and outside of the universe.”

This isn’t the first time that Activision has done a similar stunt. For their yearly release of Call of Duty, there is always redeemable codes on packages of Mountain Dew and Doritos (they should really consider moving that deal to Overwatch.) Dealings like this have also come from titles including Titanfall 2 (which drinking Mountain Dew gave you Coliseum tickets) the Battlefield franchise and more.

At the risk of sounding like your mother, we do recommend having some healthier snacks if you’re going to be marathoning games, with plenty of water and breaks to give yourself a quick stretch.
